Staying Safe at Home
According to AARP,
63% believe they will always live in their current
home, and 82% don't want to move from home, even if they need help
caring for themselves. There are things you can do so you can live
independently.
Also, 86% have made at least one minor change in their home, and
many of those believe they will be able to stay in their homes longer.
It's true--making simple changes in your home will allow you to stay
there longer. AARP shows you changes you can make room-by-room
to help make it safe for you to stay in your home as long as you want.
There are also Certified Aging in Place Specialists (CAPS) that are trained to work with older homeowners. These contractors work with you to give you what you need to stay in your home for as long as possible. To find a CAPS in your area, contact the National Association of Home Builders.
