Imagine: Getting the money you need

Not having enough money can stop you from going back to school or from getting and keeping a job you really like.

If you need more money, you may be able to get help if you have a social security number. Here are some ways to help you get money while you are working and while you are building your career:

Get money back from the government. If you qualify, you can get as much as $4,140 just for filing your income tax return. This is called the Earned Income Tax Credit.

Get help paying for child care. You can get help paying for child care, depending on how much money you earn. Each state has rules about who can get this help, and how to get it.

Get help paying for health care. You or your children may be able to get help paying for health care. Even if you are working, you may be able to get help.

Get help paying for food. The government gives money to people who have low incomes to buy the food they need. This is the food stamp program. Find out more
